Ultrasound

We had our first ultrasound on Wednesday and it was incredible! Of course, the baby wasn't big enough to see much, but just seeing that little peanut (that's what the doctor called it) sure made everything feel real. Up to now it hasn't really felt real. I guess that's why we hadn't really wanted to tell anyone. It just felt like we were saying, "Hey, we're having a baby!" yet it hadn't really sunk in to us at all. They gave us two pictures and a video. I think I've looked at those pictures a million times already. Again, it just helps it to feel real. Ashley says the pictures are not good at all and that I need to go to Summit and let her scan me and get some good ones. But, to me they are wonderful! We have our next visit on April 8. We'll just be meeting with the doctor's assistant to answer a bunch of questions about family history and for her to tell us all the do's and don'ts of pregnancy. I feel like I already know a lot just from family, friends, and my week-by-week book. I'll also get my blood drawn again (this will make four times) to make sure my HCG level is rising as it should. Hopefully all will still be well. I feel very positive about everything and so does JoeDan. That has to count for something!!! Continue to pray!

And the Journey Begins!!!

I have enjoyed reading other blogs so much and being able to keep up with friends through their blogs that I decided to start one of my own! I hope that everyone will enjoy going through our journey with us!

As some of you may already know, and others may now be finding out, JoeDan and I are expecting our first child. I am currently in week 7 and feeling great. No morning sickness so far...hopefully it will stay that way!

After hitting a rough patch back in August (sorry, no details on this...too private to display to everyone), we are closely watching this pregnancy. We go for our first ultrasound tomorrow. They say we should bring a VHS tape (guess we'll have to buy one...don't have any of those just laying around anymore) to record it. We're really excited!

I will be 30 on April 24 and will hit 12 weeks on April 28. What a great birthday present...moving out of the first trimester and into the second! Hopefully my anxiety level will lessen. Right now, I am wanting each week to go by quickly and get us to a safer part of the pregnancy.

Of course since this our first child, we have no preference of what sex the baby is. We just want a healthy baby. We have a weird feeling it is a boy, but we'll see. Ashley (my sister) is an Ultrasound sonographer, so she's going to tell us what we are having hopefully a little early. We're shooting for late May, but I don't want her to say anything if she's not pretty certain. I know we'll want to go shopping for the little one and I don't want to have to return a bunch of stuff!!!

I guess that's all for now. Stay tuned! Add us to your favorites. I will hopefully be updating often and will put pictures up as soon as I have some recent ones!
